Brand story

Dave’s Hot Chicken started in 2017 with $900 and a folding table in an East Hollywood parking lot — founders Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and the Rubenyan brothers Tommy and Gary. The pop-up became a permanent store after a late-night writeup sent the line around the block. The chain is now headquartered in Pasadena, California, under CEO Jim Bitticks, and passed 400 locations across the US and internationally following a single-day, 8-store opening in April 2026 — including its first stores in the UK and the Middle East. In June 2026, private equity firm Roark Capital acquired the chain in a deal reported at $1 billion. Dave’s opened its first airport location at Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International in July — also its only location serving breakfast, with a menu that includes a breakfast burrito and chicken-and-waffles.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between Dave’s #1 through #5?

The five numbered combos: #1 is 2 tenders with fries, #2 is 2 sliders with fries (most-ordered), #3 is 1 tender + 1 slider with fries, #4 is 1 slider with fries, #5 is 1 tender with fries.

What is the Reaper at Dave’s Hot Chicken?

The hottest of Dave’s seven spice levels, made with Carolina Reaper pepper. Most locations require a signed waiver and proof you’re 18 or older.

Is Dave’s NOT Chicken vegetarian or vegan?

Not by default — the cauliflower is fried in the same oil as the chicken unless you ask staff to use a separate fryer, and the bun contains milk and egg.

How many Dave’s Hot Chicken locations are there?

Over 400 across the US and internationally as of an April 2026 announcement, including new UK and Middle East stores, with openings continuing.

Does Hot Mozz come in different spice levels?

Yes — all 7 spice levels, the same as the chicken tenders and sliders.

Our methodology

Dave’s Meals combo pricing is cross-checked across three real delivery-app markets — Los Angeles (131 South Central Ave, 90012), Dallas (14750 Preston Rd, 75254) and New York (1498 3rd Ave, 10028). Hot Mozz, the Not Chicken (Cauli) line, Mini Sliders, dipper sauces, sides, Feed A Crowd, shakes, slushers, drinks and After Dark items are priced from ordering direct through Dave’s own site for the New York store — these are the prices you’d pay for pickup, and they run consistently lower than delivery-app pricing for the same items. Menu structure (including Dave’s #5, which is documented but not currently listed at our tracked stores) comes from Dave’s own official nutrition and allergen documents. We don’t estimate any figure we can’t source directly.
