Firehouse Subs Brand Facts

Firefighter roots

Founded in 1994 by brothers Chris and Robin Sorensen, both former firefighters, in Jacksonville, Florida. The firehouse theme runs through the decor, the menu item names (Hook & Ladder, Engineer) and the brand’s charitable mission.

Public Safety Foundation

Established in 2005 after co-founders Chris and Robin Sorensen traveled to Mississippi to help first responders following Hurricane Katrina. The foundation has since granted over $112 million to fund lifesaving equipment, training and disaster relief for first responders nationwide.

Part of a bigger family

Restaurant Brands International (RBI) — the parent company of Burger King, Popeyes and Tim Hortons — acquired Firehouse Subs for about $1 billion in a deal that closed 15 Dec 2021.

Growing footprint

Roughly 1,200+ locations across most U.S. states and Puerto Rico, plus international locations in Canada, Switzerland, Mexico, Albania, Kosovo and parts of the Middle East.
