About Bob Evans
Bob Evans (1918–2007) began processing and packaging sausage in 1948 for his small diner in Gallipolis, Ohio, with early operations at his farm in Rio Grande, Ohio. Bob Evans Farms, Inc. was formed in 1953, and the first company restaurant, “The Sausage Shop,” opened at the farm in 1962.
In 2017, the company split in two. The restaurants were sold to Golden Gate Capital, a deal that closed on March 1, 2017. The grocery business kept the Bob Evans Farms name and was bought by Post Holdings, a deal that closed in January 2018. In February 2026, Golden Gate Capital sold the Bob Evans restaurant chain to 4X4 Capital. Nation’s Restaurant News reported that CEO Mickey Mills and her team would stay on.
Bob Evans restaurants vs. Bob Evans grocery products: the sausage, mashed potatoes and side dishes sold in grocery stores come from Post Holdings’ Bob Evans Farms, a separate company from the restaurants. This site covers restaurant menu prices only.
