William Rosenberg opened the first Dunkin’ Donuts in Quincy, Massachusetts, in 1950, building on an earlier coffee-and-donut shop he’d run since 1948. The chain grew into one of the largest coffee-and-baked-goods brands in the country, and dropped “Donuts” from its logo and branding in 2019 to reflect how much of its business is now coffee and beverages rather than donuts alone — though the Dunkin’ Donuts name is still widely used and recognized.
Dunkin’ is owned by Inspire Brands, which also owns Baskin-Robbins, Arby’s, Buffalo Wild Wings and Jimmy John’s. If coffee is what brought you here, our Coffee Menu guide covers the full lineup; if you’re visiting during Fall, our Seasonal Menu guide covers the current Pumpkin Spice lineup.
